The Department of Physiology, Pharmacology, and Biochemistry is one of the key pre-clinical departments in the College of Veterinary Medicine. It teaches Physiology and Biochemistry to prepare students for the study of Pathology, Internal Medicine, and Infectious Diseases, as these disciplines are closely related to physiological functions and biochemical interactions under normal conditions—beginning at the cellular level and extending to tissues and organs within the living organism. The department also teaches Pharmacology, focusing on the prescription and use of drugs for animals.
