Animal House

The Animal House was established in 2018 as part of the infrastructure of the College of Veterinary Medicine, with the purpose of raising both small and large animals in an environment that provides all the requirements for proper care. The facility houses several types of farm and laboratory animals that directly contribute to enhancing the scientific and practical experience of the college’s students (both undergraduate and postgraduate), enabling them to acquire essential skills in animal handling, diagnosis, and treatment.

The Animal House includes a section dedicated to raising large animals such as sheep and cattle for study, breeding, and training purposes. This allows students to learn how to handle, treat, and study animal reproduction, administer treatments, and practice animal restraint. The facility also provides specialized rooms for experiments, as well as housing and breeding areas for both small and large animals. In addition, it is equipped with all necessary laboratory and non-laboratory instruments required for conducting research experiments on various animal species.

The Animal House offers students the following opportunities:

  1. Training first-year students in general methods of animal examination as part of the Animal Management course.

  2. Training third-year students in injection techniques in animals as part of the Veterinary Pharmacology course.

  3. Training fourth-year students in clinical examination and disease detection as part of Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, and Clinical Studies courses.

  4. Training fifth-year students in clinical examination, disease diagnosis, and learning appropriate therapeutic and preventive approaches as part of Internal Medicine and Clinical Studies courses.

  5. Providing training for undergraduate and postgraduate students from other colleges within the university on laboratory animal experimentation, diagnostic methods, and research procedures, as part of the college’s community service program.
