College of Veterinary Medicine Holds a Scientific Seminar on the Impact of Climate Change on the Transmission of Diseases to Farm Animals

As part of its ongoing scientific activities, the College of Veterinary Medicine at Tikrit University, in cooperation with the Center for Continuing Education, held a scientific seminar titled “Between Climate and Disease: How Climate Change Affects the Transmission of Diseases to Farm Animals.”
The seminar was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Aghareed Ali Hussein and Instructor Ziyad Taha Hussein.

The seminar addressed several important scientific topics highlighting the close relationship between climate and animal health, including:

The impact of climate changes on ruminants and the resulting physiological and health disorders.

Heat stress and its relation to animal immunity and increased susceptibility to diseases.

Changes in the life cycles of disease vectors due to rising temperatures and altered environmental conditions.

Mitigation and adaptation strategies, including early disease monitoring, the application of modern preventive methods, and improving housing and feeding systems in accordance with climate variations.

The seminar emphasized the importance of integrating research, veterinary, and environmental efforts to confront the effects of climate change on livestock. It also pointed out that understanding the relationship between climate and animal health has become a scientific necessity to address future environmental challenges.

This seminar comes as part of the college’s commitment to expanding the scope of scientific research and environmental awareness, and to reinforcing its role in serving society by addressing scientific issues of both national and global significance.
