As part of its efforts to promote scientific awareness and encourage the rational use of veterinary medicines, the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Tikrit organized a scientific seminar entitled “The Risks of Veterinary Drugs and Their Misuse Affecting Consumer Health.”
The seminar was presented by Prof. Dr. Siham Ajami Wadi and Asst. Prof. Dr. Badr Khatlan Hamid, who addressed several key topics, including the misuse of veterinary drugs and its adverse effects, health complications resulting from incorrect usage, methods for detecting drug residues in animal tissues, and strategies to minimize these risks to ensure both animal health and consumer safety.
The seminar, held in Dr. Muhannad Maher Hall, was attended by Asst. Prof. Dr. Osama Hamid Shihab, Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, along with several faculty and staff members.
During the session, the speakers emphasized that unregulated use of veterinary drugs poses a direct threat to public health, urging livestock owners and veterinarians to adhere strictly to scientific guidelines and health regulations in order to protect consumers and strengthen confidence in animal-based products.
