The Outpatient Clinic Unit at the Teaching Hospital of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Tikrit University, received several veterinary cases this week involving police dogs from the Salahaddin Police Command, as part of the ongoing cooperation between the college and security institutions in the field of veterinary health care.
Case 1: A German Shepherd from the Salahaddin Police Command suffering from mild heart enlargement. Necessary tests were conducted, and the condition was accurately diagnosed.
Case 2: A police dog from the K9 Management and Training Unit diagnosed with ear inflammation.
Case 3: Another K9 unit dog suffering from a urinary tract infection.
The specialized veterinary staff at the clinic carefully examined and diagnosed all three cases, prescribed the appropriate treatments, and provided health guidance and recommendations to the trainers responsible for the dogs to ensure proper follow-up and accelerate recovery.
The College of Veterinary Medicine emphasizes that the operation of its outpatient clinic and teaching hospital reflects the college’s service, academic, and practical mission — providing veterinary support to the community and various institutions while offering students hands-on training opportunities that strengthen their practical skills and support the goals of advanced veterinary education and professional development.
It is worth noting that the Outpatient Clinic at the College of Veterinary Medicine receives veterinary cases daily, free of charge, and continues to offer its services to citizens and institutions to promote veterinary health awareness and support the local community through reliable scientific and field expertise.
