As part of its ongoing activities in providing free veterinary services and supporting state institutions, the Veterinary Clinic Unit at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Tikrit University, received a police dog case belonging to the Salah al-Din Provincial Police Command. The case was handled with the participation of fourth-year students, within the framework of enhancing practical and clinical training components.
Clinical examination results revealed that the animal was suffering from severe emaciation and malnutrition, in addition to several other health complications. Following the necessary laboratory tests and completion of diagnostic procedures, the exact causative condition was identified. A comprehensive treatment plan was then established, and appropriate therapies were initiated, with continuous monitoring to ensure the animal’s health stabilization.
The Outpatient Clinic Unit affirmed that its scientific and humanitarian mission is centered on utilizing academic expertise to serve the community and support security institutions by providing specialized veterinary care, thereby contributing to maintaining the operational readiness of police dogs to perform their vital duties in safeguarding public security and serving the public interest.
