The College of Veterinary Medicine Integrates Applied Education with Community Service

Within the framework of its scientific and humanitarian mission, the College of Veterinary Medicine at Tikrit University continues to reinforce the concept of applied education linked to community service. In this context, the Outpatient Unit received a clinical case involving a female goat suffering from an abdominal hernia.

The veterinary staff promptly conducted the necessary clinical examinations to assess the condition. The evaluation revealed that the animal required urgent surgical intervention; consequently, a decision was made to perform a surgical procedure to save the animal and prevent further complications.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Saddam Khalid Hammadi, with the active participation of final-year students. This provided a valuable hands-on educational experience, enabling students to directly observe and engage in the stages of diagnosis, anesthesia, surgical intervention, and postoperative care, thereby enhancing their clinical skills and preparing them for professional practice.

Through such activities, the College affirms its commitment to integrating applied academic instruction with the provision of veterinary services to the community, reflecting its vital role in supporting livestock resources and serving the public interest.
