In another scientific achievement added to the record of the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Tikrit, Lecturer Marwa Adel Hameed, a faculty member of the college, was awarded a PhD in Histology from the College of Science at the University of Tikrit for her dissertation entitled:
"A Comparative Anatomical and Histochemical Study of the Female Reproductive System of Leghorn Egg-Laying Hens and Broiler Chickens at Different Ages."
The defense was held at the College of Science on August 10, 2025, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, President of the University of Tikrit; Prof. Dr. Bashar Sadiq Noami, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine; the Associate Deans for Academic and Administrative Affairs; and a number of faculty members. Asst. Prof. Dr. Badr Khatlan Hameed participated as a member of the examining committee, while Prof. Dr. Iyad Hameed Ibrahim supervised the dissertation.
The study provided a comparative anatomical, histological, and histochemical investigation of the female reproductive system in two types of domestic chickens—Leghorn egg-laying hens, which are capable of producing eggs at sexual maturity, and Broiler chickens, which despite reaching six months of age, lack the ability to produce eggs. The research aimed to expand scientific knowledge and contribute to the development of research fields in biological sciences.
