Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit Holds a Seminar on Digital Blackmail

 In the presence of Professor Dr. Bashar Sadiq Noumi, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Tikrit University, in cooperation with the University’s Continuing Education Center, held a scientific awareness seminar entitled “Digital Blackmail: A Challenge Facing Youth.”

The seminar was delivered by Professor Dr. Wasan Sarhan Ubaid, along with second-year students Maha Akram Subhi and Mohammed Mustafa Mohammed. The speakers addressed several key topics, including the concept of digital blackmail and its various forms, its causes and methods of spread through social media platforms, as well as its psychological and social impacts on young people.

The seminar also discussed ways to prevent cyber blackmail and proper mechanisms for dealing with potential cases, emphasizing the importance of digital awareness, privacy protection, and the role of educational institutions and families in raising students’ awareness of this growing threat.

The seminar witnessed positive interaction from students and faculty members, who stressed the importance of organizing such awareness activities in enhancing community awareness and protecting youth from digital risks.
