The College of Veterinary Medicine Holds a Scientific Course on the Use of Inhalation Anesthesia Equipment in Small Animals

The College of Veterinary Medicine at Tikrit University, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center at the University, organized a scientific course entitled “A Veterinarian’s Guide to the Use of Inhalation Anesthesia Equipment in Small Animals.” The course was held in the Animal House laboratories of the College and was attended by a number of senior-stage students.

The course was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Montaser Mohammed Hilal and Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Ghazi Atiyah. It addressed several important scientific and practical topics, most notably an introduction to the inhalation anesthesia machine and its main components, as well as its mechanism of action in anesthetizing small animals. The course also discussed methods for selecting appropriate anesthetic doses according to the animal species and the medical condition.

In addition, the course highlighted safety procedures during anesthesia, methods for monitoring the animal’s vital signs during surgical procedures, and the potential complications associated with anesthesia and ways to manage them.

The course also included a practical session in the Animal House laboratories, where students were introduced to the operation of the inhalation anesthesia machine and the correct procedures for its use in veterinary practice, thereby enhancing their practical skills and strengthening the link between theoretical knowledge and field application.
