The College of Veterinary Medicine at Tikrit University, in cooperation with the College of Arts and the Continuing Education Center at the University, organized a seminar entitled “Drugs in Media: Between Awareness and Hidden Promotion,” held at Dr. Muhannad Maher Hall.
The seminar was delivered by Professor Dr. Omaima Ibrahim Mahmoud and Lecturer Haseeb Khalaf Muhaimid from the Department of Media at the College of Arts. It addressed several important topics, most notably the role of media in raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, as well as the mechanisms of indirect or hidden promotion of this phenomenon through certain media content.
The seminar also discussed the impact of media messages on youth and ways to promote responsible media discourse that contributes to reducing the spread of drug use. In addition, it highlighted the importance of collaboration between academic and media institutions in building a well-informed and aware society.
The seminar was attended by faculty members and students, who actively engaged with its topics due to their relevance in addressing a sensitive societal issue affecting various segments of the community.
