The College of Veterinary Medicine Holds an Introductory Seminar on the Dangers of Rumors in Cooperation with the Salah al-Din Police Command

 Under the patronage of the University of Tikrit, the College of Veterinary Medicine, in cooperation with the Center for Continuing Education and the Salah al-Din Police Command, organized an introductory seminar titled:
“Rumors – Their Dangers and Negative Impact on the Individual and Society.”
The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Hasan Hussein Ibrahim, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, along with a number of faculty members, staff, and students.

The seminar featured contributions from:

  • Brigadier General Khamis Mathar Ahmed

  • Colonel Qasim Ibrahim Rajab, from the Media and Public Relations Department at the Salah al-Din Police Command

  • Mr. Yousef Mahmoud Dawood, volunteer from the “Friends of the Interior,” and a member of the “Ornina Volunteer Team”

  • and the “Idea and Story” performance group

The seminar opened with a short film portraying the risks of suicide associated with the spread of rumors and their psychological effects, followed by a theatrical performance by the “Idea and Story” team highlighting the dangers of misinformation and fabricated stories in society.

Afterward, the speakers delivered a detailed presentation on the seriousness of rumors within communities in general, and among students and university environments in particular. They emphasized how rumors contribute to undermining trust, increasing stress, and creating serious social and psychological disturbances. The discussion also focused on methods to limit the spread of false news, promote a culture of verifying credibility, relying on official information sources, and exercising caution before sharing any information.

On the sidelines of the seminar, Prof. Dr. Bashar Sadiq Noami, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, met with the speakers and the performance group, expressing his sincere appreciation for their awareness efforts. He praised their role in promoting community awareness and wished them continued success.

This seminar is part of a series of educational activities organized by the college to enhance student awareness, reinforce the values of social responsibility, and combat the spread of rumors and misinformation.
