Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, President of the University of Tikrit, and as part of their ongoing scientific and cultural activities, the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Tikrit organized an important scientific symposium titled “Monitoring and Activating the National Security Strategy – Iraq First.”
The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Bashar Sadiq Noomi, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Raheel Ali, Dean of the College of Dentistry, and a number of faculty members and staff. The symposium was delivered by Prof. Dr. Dhafir Mudhi Faisal from the College of Law, who discussed several key themes forming the pillars of national security, including:
Strengthening national sovereignty and preserving the independence of Iraqi decision-making.
Upholding civil rights and freedoms in accordance with the Constitution and applicable laws.
Ensuring the safety of land, citizens, and property while reinforcing internal stability.
Developing human resources as the foundation of state-building and social progress.
Combating drugs, terrorism, and organized crime as major threats to national security.
Advancing education and higher education processes in line with developmental and national needs.
The symposium featured extensive discussions between the speaker and the attendees, highlighting the pivotal role of universities in supporting the national security strategy through fostering an aware, educated generation capable of confronting contemporary challenges. Participants also emphasized the importance of scientific research in addressing societal and economic security issues.
In his address, the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine stressed that such activities play a vital role in strengthening national awareness among students and academics, while fostering collaboration between academic and security institutions in service of Iraq’s national interests.
This symposium aligns with the University’s vision of promoting civic responsibility and community engagement, in accordance with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s strategy for stability and sustainable development.
On the sidelines of the symposium, Prof. Dr. Bashar Sadiq Noomi, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Muntasir Mohammed Hilal, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, held a fruitful meeting with Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Raheel Ali, Dean of the College of Dentistry, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ghazwan Mahdi Saleh, Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs. The meeting addressed topics of mutual interest between the two colleges, particularly the enhancement of academic collaboration and the expansion of joint activities aimed at serving students and improving the educational process.
