As part of its mission to support students both academically and psychologically, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Veterinary Medicine – University of Tikrit has launched an awareness campaign titled “Getting Ready for the New Academic Year.” The campaign included the distribution of informational brochures designed to encourage students to begin their studies with motivation, focus, and effective organization.
The campaign highlighted key recommendations drawn from the guidance file prepared by the unit, including:
Smart time management: developing a balanced schedule between study, rest, and daily activities.
Goal setting: defining small, measurable academic goals to sustain motivation and progress.
Creating a proper study environment: ensuring a quiet, well-lit space free from distractions.
Mental and cognitive preparation: reviewing core materials and enhancing reading and summarizing skills.
Positive social engagement: building supportive academic friendships and maintaining healthy communication with peers to overcome psychological barriers.
Material and environmental readiness: preparing study supplies and fostering a motivating learning environment.
The unit emphasized that this campaign is part of its annual plan aimed at preparing students psychologically and intellectually for the new academic year, while strengthening their self-organization and internal motivation — key factors that positively impact their academic performance and participation within the college.
Through its specialized units, the College of Veterinary Medicine continues to provide student care and guidance support, reaffirming its belief that academic success begins with psychological well-being and a stimulating educational environment.
